Chicago's Confucius Institute
Today marks the opening of Chicago's Confucius Institute, a joint venture of the People's Republic of China and the Chicago Public Schools. Nearly 4,000 Chicago Public School students, from kindergarten through high school, are already studying Mandarin Chinese. The CI is designed to promote awareness of Chinese language and culture and not only among Chicago's students but adults as well.
