Rep. Schakowsky was first elected in 1998 to represent the 9th District. The district consists of all of Evanston, Skokie, Niles, Lincolnwood, and other northern suburbs as well as much of the North Side of Chicago.

Susanne Atanus was removed from the ballot after the Chicago Board of Elections found several hundred of her signatures invalid, leaving her short of the 600 minimum signatures, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
