Gov. Pat Quinn's state of the state address Wednesday received lukewarm reviews from lawmakers and editorial boards. The governor joins us on Chicago Tonight at 7:00 pm to talk about new initiatives he's proposing -- plans that critics say the state cannot afford.
After the show, tell us what you think about what Quinn had to say in your comments below or on our discussion board!

Quinn
Quinn is in denial and totally out of touch with reality. His state of the state speech contain less than 100 words about pensions and debt, but thousands of words tax breaks, tax cuts, and pouring more money into governmental black holes. My income tax went up 66% (2 percentage points) and the debt is WORSE one year later? Is ANYONE out there incensed about this?
GOV QUINN
Despite Eddie Arruza's best efforts, Gov Quinn managed to evade every question he was asked. The governor is apparently not prepared to carry on an adult conversation that deals with the serious issues of the day. Instead he cites platitude after platitude in order to convince us how much he cares. I'm embarrassed to think that such a shallow thinker holds the highest elected office in Illinois.

Gov. Quinn, the leader of our State, is intentionally ignoring the most important issue in Illinois. I don't understand! No one I talk to understands. Dont most people feel insulted at this complete lack of leadership?
Gov. Quinn
Wow. Does this guy realize that it is his office that is responsible along with the his appointments of staff who have no experience in Investigations of Child abuse cases, the reasons why Ill. has so many preventable child death cases caused by abuse. Also, the media is just as responsible for not following this issue more closely. Shame on you all and the voting public for allowing this to happen.
Redistribution of wealth
Government doesn't create jobs, private sector does. When he takes from the tax payers and pays for infrastructure, or anything else, he is redistributing wealth from the people who earned it to the Union friends that helped elect him. Until this recession is over, it is not the time to be spending money that we don't have.
The Governor doesn't understand that when gas prices are high, a pound of hamburger costs four dollars, you do not raise the cost of toll roads, parking, bus fares, etc. Seniors on fixed income can't sustain these raises in price for essential services. He talks like he cares, but he just doesn't get it. His sticky fingers can't stay out of anyone;'s wallet.
I just got my first installment of property taxes. Where does the governor think that the seniors can get the money to pay such outrageous sums? We are on fixed income. How long does he think we can sustain his outrageous spending? The governor is the cause of our housing problem, not the solution.
Embarrassing
Illinois is in serious trouble and we have this embarrassment as a governor.
Eddie Arruza & Gov Quinn 2/2/12
Eddie Arruza did his usual excellent and insightful job of interviewing the Governor, last night, but the only thing missing was background music to accompany the Governor's insidious tap dancing.
PS Why have you not included River Forest in the "Neighborhood/City" list?

Agressive progressive
Quinn is a breath of fresh air. Maybe his every answer is not poll-tested, but he strikes me as an honest progressive. He is a sincere, liberal leader and I admire him for it. Nobody ever seems to be happy with his approach, but count me as a citizen who is grateful to have him at the helm. He calls them as he sees them, he doesn't throw bombs at his detractors, and he is a humble guy who clearly loves being an advocate for the state. We need some humility in our leaders.
Agressive progressive
Oh, gag.
