Chicago Magazine's Power List Stirs Controversy

Chicago Magazine's list of the 100 Most Powerful Chicagoans is out -- but some names are noticeably off the list. The magazine snubbed Gov. Pat Quinn, Illinois Senate President John Cullerton, and U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk. The list also fails to include any musicians, but there's an explanation, says executive editor Cassie Walker Burke. For most of the names on that list, we barely know they even exist. On the other hand, Buddy Guy is a world-renown musician, local legend, inspiration to new artists and ambassador to the world for the Chicago Blues. His performances fill arenas. His Chicago club is packed every night with visitors from all over the world. Buddy IS Chicago, yet his influence was shamelessly ignored. I give that list a credibility rating of zero.
