Illinois Supreme Court Candidate Forum

Judicial races can be the hardest part of the ballot to tackle for voters. In fact, you may not even know who's running for the open seat on the Illinois Supreme Court. So, we've assembled the four Democratic candidates battling for the open seat on Illinois' high court.

The issues that the justices rule on are varied, yet they impact us all. Just last summer, the Court upheld the constitutionality of a major infrastructure plan funded by a number of new taxes and video gambling. The justices are currently considering Cook County's assault weapons ban and parental notification for abortions.

Judicial candidates are not allowed to publicly say how they'd rule on any issue. But there's plenty more to talk about. Joining us on Chicago Tonight at 7:00 pm are Supreme Court Justice Mary Jane Theis, who holds a temporary appointment to the seat; Appellate Judge Aurelia Pucinski, who was the former Cook County Circuit Court Clerk; Appellate Judge Joy Cunningham; and attorney Thomas Flannigan.

There is also a Republican vying for this open seat, Judge James Riley, but he is unopposed in the Republican primary.
