16th District Republican Primary Forum

The congressional remap -- controlled by Democrats -- has forced two incumbent Republican congressmen to face off against one another in Illinois' 16th Congressional District. Rep. Donald Manzullo and Rep. Adam Kinzinger join Carol Marin for a candidate forum on Chicago Tonight at 7:00 pm.

Much of the campaign has been focused on which candidate is the true conservative. There are no Democrats running for this seat, so the winner of the March 20 primary will remain in Congress.

The new 16th district covers suburbs on the far north, west and south of Chicago; and goes from the Wisconsin border to as far south as Gibson City, and east to the Indiana border.

Congressman Kinzinger is currently serving his first term as Congressman from the 11th Congressional District. The remap last year placed a majority of that population in the new 16th district.  He lives in Channahon, just southwest of Joliet.

Congressman Manzullo represents the current 16th district. He is running for his 11th term in Congress, and he lives outside of Rockford.
