Trains On Track For NATO Summit

Metra, Amtrak and South Shore trains will run under McCormick Place during the NATO summit next month, according to the Secret Service. Due to security measures, however, there may be delays.

The Secret Service considered shutting down the rail lines last month, which could have disrupted the commutes of 25,000 Chicagoans, according to Crain's Chicago Business

The agency, which is in charge of NATO security efforts, also considered closing Lake Shore Drive and the Stevenson Expressway, which run near the summit site at McCormick Place. The Secret Service did not say whether those roads would be closed.

Secret Service officials are expected to release their complete security plan two to four weeks before the May 20 summit.
