Last month would have been Julia Child's 100th birthday, and to mark the occasion author Bob Spitz has written a new biography of the French Chef. But Child's cooking shows were not the only times she appeared on WTTW.
In 1978, Child paid a visit to to promote her upcoming cooking show and cookbook, Julia Child and Company. She appeared on the half-hour program John Callaway Interviews, discussing some of her kitchen tips, her view on feminism, and medieval European food preparations.
She was also interviewed by Phil Ponce for a 2001 episode of Chicago Tonight. After some comments from chefs Child inspired, including Charlie Trotter, Child discusses American obesity, her training in France, and answers viewer questions about home cooking.
