Ken Burns' "Dust Bowl"

The 1930s brought the country's worst economic crisis -- the Great Depression. But as stocks tumbled in the East, farmers in the Great Plains were dealing with the Dust Bowl -- a plague of dust storms that lasted a decade resulting in the greatest man-made ecological disaster in U.S. history.

The storms, which ruined millions of acres of farmland, are the subject of director Ken Burns' latest documentary, The Dust Bowl, airing this month on WTTW. Burns joins us on Chicago Tonight at 7:00 pm. Watch our web extra conversation with Burns:
