Chicago Tonight: The Week in Review: 4/12

On this edition of Chicago Tonight: The Week in Review with Joel Weisman, First Lady Michelle Obama makes an emotional return to her hometown to rally support for anti-violence programs. With mass school closings on the horizon, CPS plans to double its Safe Passage program, which helps students walk safely through gang turf to school. Low voter turnout plagues Tuesday’s elections, as Democrat Robin Kelly wins the 2nd Congressional District seat vacated by Jesse Jackson Jr. Springfield lawmakers work on concealed carry legislation, and casino expansion sparks a heated debate. The city looks to make more money from increased digital advertising at O’Hare Airport. Travelers at Midway now have a one-stop shop for car rentals. And in sports, the Blackhawks rely on superb goaltending, and the Cubs deal with blustery weather and a bizarre animal delivery.
