Iraq Reconstruction

Thousands of lives were lost and tens of thousands wounded since the launch of the Iraq War in 2003 until it ended in 2011. The United States spent trillions on the war including $63 billion in aid to rebuild Iraq. For nearly 10 years, Stuart Bowen Jr. served as the "taxpayer's watchdog" in Iraq. He found billions of dollars wasted from corruption and mismanagement in the rebuilding effort. As he wraps up his role, which he started in 2004, he submitted a 171-page assessment to Congress called "Learning From Iraq: A Final Report From the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction." He joins us on Chicago Tonight at 7:00 pm. Read the full report.
