Chicago Tonight: The Week in Review: 7/12

On this edition of Chicago Tonight: The Week in Review with Joel Weisman at 7:00 pm, Gov. Pat Quinn hits lawmakers in the wallet for failing to pass pension reform.  The constitutionally questionable move comes one day after the legislature overrode Quinn’s retooling of the concealed carry bill.  Meanwhile, the Illinois State Rifle Association files a lawsuit over the delay to openly carry guns until March. Inspector General Joe Ferguson’s audit over the city’s $18 million savings claims of the new grid-based garbage collection rankles Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Metra’s board chair defends the former CEO’s $700,000 severance package amid questions raised about it being hush money to cover a political patronage scandal. The Chicago Landmarks Commission approves a tweaked Wrigley Field renovation plan. And in sports, the Bulls sign free agent Mike Dunleavy by waiving veteran guard Rip Hamilton.
