Kirk Dillard

State Sen. Kirk Dillard has been a member of the Illinois General Assembly since 1995. Prior to serving as an elected official, Dillard was Chief of Staff to Gov. Jim Edgar from 1990 to 1993. He was born on the north side of Chicago, but spent the majority of his life in the Chicago suburb of Hinsdale. In 2010, Dillard ran for the GOP gubernatorial nomination against fellow State Sen. Bill Brady, among others. Dillard lost to Brady by 193 votes. In 2013, he was selected as Assistant Senate Republican Leader. During the spring 2013 session, Dillard voted for House Speaker Michael Madigan’s pension plan and voted against Senate President John Cullerton’s bill. He also voted against same-sex marriage. Dillard officially announced his second run for Illinois governor on July 15, 2013.
