When Chicago Sun-Times Theater Critic Hedy Weiss joined us on Chicago Tonight this week to review shows currently on Chicago area stages, one standout among the plays was In the Heights at Paramount Theatre in Aurora. In its Chicago debut, In the Heights presents three days in the lives of residents living on 183rd Street in New York’s Washington Heights. The contemporary musical, filled with “soaring ballads and Latin-inspired grooves,” won Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestration in 2008. Speaking about the Paramount Theatre during her appearance on our show, Weiss said, “They are in the third year of what they call their Broadway series, and it truly is Broadway. It’s fabulous, and the prices are a lot cheaper than Broadway.” The production runs through October 6, and tickets cost between $36.90 and $49.90. For more information, click here.
