Government Shutdown: Day 9

The video cannot be displayed.

President Obama invites House Democrats to a meeting at the White House to discuss the budget crisis. Is the government shutdown nearing its end? Carol Marin and her guests have analysis. Joining Carol are John Tillman, CEO of the Illinois Policy Institute, Laurel Harbridge, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Northwestern University, and Jason DeSanto, Senior Lecturer at Northwestern Law.

The last government shutdown in 1995 was the result of conflicts between then-President Bill Clinton and the Republican Congress over funding. That shutdown lasted for a total of 21 days, from Nov. 14-19 and from Dec. 16 through Jan. 6, 1996.
