This week on Chicago Tonight, we talked with Berkeley-based artist and former Chicago reporter Diane Abt about her calligraphy-inspired artwork featured in the 12th Annual Art in Motion fundraiser.  You can view some of her featured work this weekend at Northwestern University’s Lurie Center. The gallery showcases outstanding art by hundreds of artists all over the country. Antonio Davis, a quadriplegic artist we profiled on this week on Chicago Tonight, will also have pieces on display at this event. All of the professional and patient artwork is for sale with half the proceeds benefiting the RIC Art Therapy program. Although advanced tickets are closed, limited general admission is $75. Handmade Market Chicago

It’s rare to find a good yard sale under several inches of snow. Empty Bottle Bar looks to bring the experience of a yard sale indoors at its Handmade Market. Over 30 local vendors will be selling unique and handmade items this Saturday at the event. Shoppers can purchase anything from handmade greeting cards to handbags. The Barber of Seville

This week on Chicago Tonight, we talked with Nathan Gunn about his role in The Barber of Seville, currently at Lyric Opera of Chicago. The story revolves around Figaro, a clever and opportunistic man who tries to fix everyone’s situation. The comedy follows his quest to make everything right for Rosina and Count Almaviva. The opera has received rave reviews do fans of theater should not miss this production. See the international singer star in the critically acclaimed opera Sunday, February 9 at 2:00 pm. Chicago Cultural Center Tour

The Chicago Cultural Center is opening its doors to the public to take attendees on a walk through history. Guests will start in the Randolph Street lobby navigate the inner workings of the historic building. Originally unveiled in 1897 as the Chicago Public Library, this repurposed building offers a glimpse of the world's largest Tiffany stained-glass dome, mosaics and other architectural details. Tours are limited to 20 people. The tour will take Saturday February 8 at 1:15 pm. Admission is free. For more information, click here.

First Friday Gallery Night

Art enthusiasts looking for a family-themed art show are in luck this weekend. The Lakeside Legacy Arts Park is hosting its monthly First Friday Art Show. The gallery celebrates diversity in artistic perspectives and will feature talented local artists like Jeanine Hill-Soldner.
