Good Food Festival & Conference

This week on Chicago Tonight, we talked with Jim Slama, the founder and president of FamilyFarmed.org about the demand for locally produced organic foods. Slama will be a speaker at this year’s Good Food Festival & Conference. The annual event will be returning to the UIC Forum for three days of programming for food businesses, funders, industry representatives, and local foodies. Learn more about sustainability, taste a variety of healthy foods and meet some of the leaders in the organic farming industry. The 4th Annual Night Owl Ball

Naperville’s Willowbrook Wildlife Center hopes you will party your Saturday night away at its annual Night Owl Ball. The benefit event will support their efforts in nature preservation and care for migrant wildlife. The event will feature a 3-course dinner, a live auction, a silent auction, a cash bar and the chance to win prizes. The event takes place Saturday, March 15 at the Hilton Hotel. Tickets are $75. International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) Conference
If you have a taste for fine cuisine, you will enjoy the International Association of Culinary Professional’s 2014 Conference. The theme this year is “Food Connectors” and over the course of four days event-goers will get the opportunity to connect to the past, present and future. The event will feature classes, speakers and networking opportunities that will bring cuisines from all over the world to Chicago. Hip foodies can also discuss the latest trends in food and drink. The IACP Conference takes place from Friday, March 14 through Monday, March 17 at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile. Chicago's Saint Patrick's Day Parade
Following the traditional dyeing of the Chicago River, The city looks to continue support of the Irish spirit by hosting its annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This year, the parade will start at Balbo and Columbus. The parade units will proceed north on Columbus Drive and the viewing stand will be located in front of Buckingham Fountain. The parade starts Saturday, March 15 at 12:00 pm. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early. For more information, click here.

Saint Patrick's Festival 2014
The Irish American Heritage Center wants you to join them as it hosts some of Chicago’s largest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations this Saturday. This large-scale, family-friendly annual event includes traditional and contemporary Irish music, dance, food, children’s activities and an Arts and Craft Fair, with vendors selling Irish gifts. The festivities begin at 1:00 pm, following the downtown Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and end at midnight with live entertainment by Chicago Irish music groups and performers on tour from Ireland.
