Mayor Rahm Emanuel visits Chicago Tonight

Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s first three years on the job have certainly not been short on controversy – not least around the subject of education. While the mayor points to a longer school year and day as well as rising high school graduation rates as positives, his critics say that his bullying leadership style helped trigger the first school strike in more than a quarter century. His decision to shutter almost 50 schools has sparked fury among the largely African-American communities where the axe fell hardest.

Meanwhile, the city’s finances remain precarious as a deal to shore up massively underfunded city pension funds remains elusive. Fresh from an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Mayor Rahm Emanuel joins us to discuss his first three years on the job.
