Rooftop Owners Sue City to Block Wrigley Renovations

Owners of eight rooftop clubs across the street from Wrigley Field filed a lawsuit today to block the Chicago Cubs renovation and expansion plans of Wrigley Field.

On July 10, the Cubs were given preliminary approval by the Commission for Chicago Landmarks for the Cubs' plan to erect two jumbotrons, five outfield signs and up to eight additional rows of bleachers, which would block rooftops’ views and violate the 2004 Wrigley Field landmark designation ordinance according to the complaint.

Rooftop owners are seeking administrative review of the Commission’s July 10 decision, as well as “declaratory relief, injunctive relief and assert claims for violation of the Plaintiffs’ constitutional rights to due process of law and equal protection of the law.”
