PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend runs from Friday to Sunday. Adoption Weekends are held four times throughout the year and aim to help save thousands of pets’ lives across North America in one weekend. The adoption program promises to help people find their next best friend. Adoption fees will vary.

Chicago Ethiopian Festival

Senn High School will host Ethiopia Fest Chicago on Saturday. The festival celebrates Ethiopian culture and heritage with traditional foods, arts and crafts, music, and cultural displays. Doors open at 12:30 pm. The event runs until 5:00 pm. Cost is $5 for children and adults.

The Chicago Women's Expo

The Chicago Convention Center will be transformed this Saturday and Sunday as it hosts the Chicago Ultimate Women’s Expo. The event will feature hundreds of boutique shopping pavilions, emerging designers, great beauty discoveries, cocktails, and free giveaways. Keynote speakers include Wynonna Judd, NeNe Leakes, and Tabatha Coffey. Cost is $10 at the door or $5 online.

Lakeview East Festival of the Arts

Running Friday through Sunday, the Lakeview East Festival of the Arts will include original paintings, jewelry, photography, furniture, and more. Now in its 10th year, the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce aims to feature the best in the heart of Lakeview. The 10th anniversary concert kicks off at 7:00 pm on Friday, and the festival runs 10:00 am to 10:00 pm on Saturday and 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday. There is a $5 suggested donation.

AIDS Run and Walk Chicago

On Sunday, the AIDS Run and Walk Chicago aims to raise awareness and funds to help fight HIV and AIDS. In 2013, the event raised more than $223,000. Following the race, participants can enjoy dance performances and more in Grant Park. Race Day registration fee is $50 for walkers, 5K, and 10K runners. Registration begins at 7:45 am.
