Chicago Schools: The Worst in the Nation?

Whether you support Chicago neighborhood schools or the creation of more charters, many residents agree that something needs to be done to bolster Chicago's education system. But how did we get to this point? The School Project is a six-part documentary web series that traces the history of school strife in Chicago and the issues facing our youngest generation to spur conversation and change. Chicago Tonight talks with The School Project co-director and producer Greg Jacobs about the series.

Over the 2014-2015 school year, the series will be released in segments online, beginning with the first episode on Tuesday, Oct. 28. The documentary’s first installment, Chicago Schools: Worst in the Nation?, will make its world premiere at an event held at the Chicago History Museum. Following the documentary, Chicago Tonight host Carol Marin will moderate a panel discussion. The premiere event is free to attend, but reservations are required.
