Red Light Cameras Questioned

The first scientific study of the safety benefits of red light cameras shows that the safety benefits are over-exaggerated and these cameras can increase some types of crashes and injuries. Now, mayoral challengers are calling for the removal of the revenue generators. We talk to David Kidwell, the Chicago Tribune reporter who broke the story, and Chicago Tonight reporter Paris Schutz about the politics of the red light camera program. Read the Tribune's study.
