Over Memorial Day weekend, a new part of the Chicago Riverwalk opened from State Street to Clark Street. Carol Ross Barney has been leading the Riverwalk design for more than a dozen years. We sit down with her to talk about the project that was made possible by Mayor Rahm Emanuel, City of Chicago, Department of Transportation, Sasaki, Ross Barney Architects, Alfred Benesch Engineers, and Jacobs/Ryan Associates.
On Friday, May 22, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced the opening of phase 2 of the Chicago Riverwalk, as well as the lineup of vendors that will provide dining, educational, cultural, and recreational activities along the waterfront stretch from LaSalle Street to Lake Shore Drive for the summer.
