Fourth of July celebrations are happening all across the Chicagoland area. But there are also other great events happening from the Windy City RibFest to the African/Caribbean International Festival of Life. Chicago Tonight has your weekend picks.

African/Caribbean International Festival of Life

Enjoy spectacular music, food, arts and crafts, and more at this family-friendly event, which is celebrating its 22nd year at Union Park. Patrons can expect to see over 70 acts, featuring the best of Reggae, Caribbean, Latin, African Rock, Pop, R&B, Gospel and other great music acts. The festival runs Friday through Sunday. General admission tickets for ages 13 and up cost $20, $5 for children ages 6-12, and children under the age of 6 are free. Seniors ages 65 and up can purchase tickets for $10 with a valid ID.

Windy City RibFest

Enjoy some finger-licking, lip-smacking slabs of ribs from some of the best local and national ribbers at Windy City RibFest. Adding to the fun of the seventh annual food and street fest is a three-day music stage lineup, featuring some of the hottest local and national rock/pop classic indie acts as well as local tribute bands. And don’t worry parents: There will be arts and crafts and a daytime play area for your kids. A $5 donation is suggested and benefits the Business Partners and the Chamber of Uptown.

Eyes to the Skies Festival

In Lisle this weekend, colorful balloons of all shapes and sizes will fill the sky, with launches at 5:30 am and 6:30 pm daily. In addition to the hot air balloons, festgoers can turn their eyes to the skies nightly to watch a fireworks display which begins at 9:45 pm. Attendees can also check out the festival’s carnival, kids area, live music, and a craft fair. Cost is $8.

Chicago Tango Week

Dance the night away on a one-of-a-kind floor from Dance America that is brought from Nashville just for Chicago Tango Week, which runs through Sunday. Participants can also enroll in tango workshops and seminars taught by instructors with years of experience. Dance-goers can also enjoy milongas every night for a total of 26 hours of dancing. To Kill A Mockingbird

If you’re into the theatre scene, catch one of the most famous novels on stage. To Kill A Mockingbird will have performances at the Oak Park Festival Theatre through July 18. Christopher Sergel adapted Harper Lee’s novel for this run. Tickets cost $15 for students, $27 for adults, and $22 for seniors.
