Field Museum Conservation Expert Discusses the Rise in Extinctions


Scientists are saying the Earth is on the brink of the sixth "mass extinction event" in the 4.5 billion year history of the planet.

According to the study, Earth is losing mammal species at 20 to 100 times the rate of the past.

New studies suggest that invertebrates may also be in trouble, perhaps causing a cascading effect on other species in the future.
