This isn’t the company’s first run-in with Steinbeck. In 1988, ensemble member Frank Galati – who adapted East of Eden – both directed and adapted Steinbeck’s “Grapes of Wrath,” which ultimately transferred to Broadway, winning two Tony awards. Steppenwolf ensemble member Terry Kinney starred in “Grapes” and now directs on “East of Eden.”

Kinney, who co-founded Steppenwolf Theater back in 1976 with Gary Sinise and Jeff Perry, sat down to speak with “Chicago Tonight” along with Steppenwolf's new Artistic Producer Jonathan Berry.
