Twyla Tharp, 50th Anniversary Tour (Thursday-Sunday)
Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Congress Pkwy. 
A tribute to iconic American dancer and choreographer Twyla Tharp, who, over the course of her 50-year career, created dances for Hollywood films, Broadway and television with choreography often utilizing pop, classical and jazz music. This program presents two Chicago premieres of Tharp's work: "Preludes and Fugues," set to J.S. Bach’s "The Well-Tempered Clavier"; and "Yowzie," a "humorous work set to a wild, raucous and jazzy score." 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday; 2 p.m. Sunday. $33-$103.

This is the fifth year for the film fest, which is all about bringing independent comedy to the screen. Various times. $12, individual tickets; $49 weekend passes. 

Dia de los Muertos Ball: Love Never Dies

Drink and eat while dancing your way through music from DJ Jesse De La Pena and the Dos Santos Anti-Beat Orquestra. 7-11 p.m. $125-$150.

'Do Not Submit' - Hyde Park Storytelling Open Mic 
First Unitarian Church of Chicago, 5650 S. Woodlawn Ave. 
It's a "seven at seven." Arrive at 7 p.m. for a spot, then get up and tell any story you'd like for seven minutes. (Late arrivals can sign up too as long as there are spots still available.) Sign up; 7 p.m., stories; 7:30 p.m. Free.

Yomosas: Yoga at the Promontory

Yoga plus mimosa equals tipsy downward-facing dog. Do the math yourself at Promontory's Yomosa class Saturday. All levels are welcome; everyone receives a mimosa and pastry following class. Brunch available on site from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. BYOM (bring your own mat). 12:30 p.m. $20.

Chicago Ghost Walk
Starting point, Oriental Theatre, 24 W. Randolph St. 
If you didn't get enough Halloween in this past month, take a little stroll with the Chicago Ghost Walk peeps. Highlights include "corpse alley" outside the Oriental Theatre, the city's Water Tower (the only building to survive the Great Chicago Fire), and Fort Dearborn, the site of one of the bloodiest battles of the War of 1812. Meet at 7 p.m. outside the Oriental Theatre. $35.     

New Found Glory at Concord 
Concord Music Hall, 2047 N. Milwaukee Ave. 
Channel the early 2000s with a little New Found Glory, that American pop punk band responsible for the hit "My Friends Over You." Or if that's not your bag, watch the openers instead: Yellowcard and Tigers Jaw. Doors at 7 p.m. $27.50. 

Learn to Arrange Old-Time Fiddle Tunes

Learn to arrange old-time fiddle tunes for modern performance. Hands-on workshop with time afterward to play. Bring your instrument. 3-4:30 p.m. $25. 


SUNDAY

Mac and Cheeze Takedown
Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave. 
Chicago doesn't disappoint when it comes to its seemingly bottomless love of things both macaroni and cheese. This event from amateur food contest promoter Matt Timms adds to his series, which includes "Bacon Takedown," "Brooklyn Beer Experiment" and the "Park Slope Pork Off." Basically all the mac and cheese you can eat for $20. 'Nuff said. 1-3 p.m. $20.

Lanternenfest and St. Martin's Parade
Dank House, 4740 N. Western Ave. 
Lanternenfest is a European tradition where children walk through villages with lighted lanterns on the eve of St. Martin’s feast day.This Chicago celebration includes lantern-making, with a lantern parade at night. Presented by the German International School and Chicago's Dank House. 2-5:30 p.m. $8.

Listen to live gospel music as you feast upon soul food. 2 p.m. $35.
