It would be nice if Carol Marin would get her facts straight, though she is not alone, on the issue of free health insurance for state public pensioners. State employees currently get theirs free, TRS members pay for theirs. I am a retired suburban teacher, have been for 9 years, all of that time paying a portion of my health insurance. I am 65, on medicare, with my secondary insurance through TRS, my wife is 63, our current monthy premium through TRIP/TRS is right at $1000.00 per month, including Medicare for myself. Suburban, and downstate teachers pay their fair sure for health insurance as retirees, please get the facts correct when reporting on the so called free health insurance for all "state retirees"
