As the NATO summit draws increasingly closer, Chicagoans are preparing for an influx of people traveling to protest the international gathering.

The city of Chicago has approved a permit for what's thought to be the largest anti-NATO rally being held by the Coalition Against NATO/G8 War & Poverty Agenda (CAN-G8.) Ash-har Quraishi has the latest.

NATO protesters are meeting with NATO summit representatives on May 17 for an unprecedented one-hour public debate, according to protester Andy Thayer, organizer of The Coalition Against NATO/G8 War & Poverty Agenda (CANG8.)

Both Sides Agree to May 20 Route

After a series of legal tussles, the city and NATO protest groups agreed to a protest march route for the first day of the international summit.

 

The Coalition Against NATO/G8 War & Poverty Agenda (CANG8) is organizing protests for the NATO summit. The group has already obtained city permits to hold a rally in Daley Plaza and march to McCormick Place during the summit.
