Former FBI Director James Comey spoke Tuesday in Chicago, a day after the person who fired him, President Donald Trump, visited the city to speak at a conference of police chiefs.

The Justice Department’s inspector general says James Comey broke FBI rules by giving one memo containing unclassified information to a friend with instructions to share the contents with a reporter.

During Thursday’s hearing, the former FBI Director said his rationale for documenting conversations with President Donald Trump was due to a fear that Trump “might lie about the nature of [their] meeting.”
