Like Occupy Chicago, The Coalition Against NATO/G8 War & Poverty Agenda (CANG8) is organizing protests for the NATO summit this May. The group claimed victory when the NATO summit was moved to Maryland’s Camp David, but said thousands of protesters will still be coming to Chicago in May because “people are at least as upset about NATO as they are with G-8.”

The group obtained city permits to hold a rally in Daley Plaza on May 19--during the G8 summit--but were denied a similar permit a day later when the summit was moved. The city denied that permit because the NATO summit would draw more dignitaries than the G8, requiring a heavier security presence.
