Illinois' New Energy Code

Illinois’ new energy code – which went into effect Jan. 1, 2013 – will raise the initial cost of new homes built in the city and decrease the operating cost of those homes. Homes built prior to this year will not need to be modified to comply with the new rules. Our panel of green building experts – including an architect, a builder and a government consultant on the code – will discuss the genesis of the new code, what it means for homeowners, and how it will interact with the housing market, which is back on the rise. They join us on Chicago Tonight at 7:00 pm. View the 2012 State Energy Efficiency Scorecard in the PDF below.
