Steven Chu

We talk with Former Secretary of Energy Steven Chu about climate change, fracking and the future of energy policy.

In the following web extra, extended interview, Chu addresses the President’s vow to take executive action to start curbing carbon emissions to fight climate change, and he addresses his belief that alternative energies such as wind and solar power could take over for fossil fuel derived energy within 10 years. Chu gives his take on how fracking can be done in a sustainable way, and addresses nuclear power and its role in the country’s energy future. Chu also addresses the recent pattern of extreme weather and whether or not it can be tied to climate change; and he gives his opinion of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who was chief of staff to President Obama when Chu was in Obama’s cabinet.
