Classic Chinese Fable Comes to Life

“The White Snake” chronicles the tale of a gentle serpent spirit who lives on a mountaintop and transforms herself one day into a beautiful young woman, then travels down to the world of humans. So begins Mary Zimmerman’s interpretation of the classic Chinese fable into a spectacular Goodman Theatre production.

Written and directed by Zimmerman, "The White Snake" is an adaptation of a nearly 2,000 year-old Chinese fable about love.  The Tony Award-winner joins us to discuss her adaptation of the ancient tale for a modern audience.
