Analyzing US Soccer Team’s World Cup Chances


The United States hasn't always understood soccer. But anyone watching the progress of the United States’ national team at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil -- and the enthusiastic support of USA fans – can tell the sport is here to stay.

Yesterday's USA-Portugal match drew the highest ever rating for a World Cup soccer match on ESPN. Some 20,000 fans packed downtown Chicago to watch the game on a giant screen. Some fans were turned away because the area set aside for the viewing party wasn't large enough. We analyze the U.S. team's chances going forward and discuss the growing popularity of the game.
