Discovery Reveals Life of Ancient Insects

Researchers at the University of Illinois were examining a catalog of 20-million-year-old amber when they came across a number of impressive specimens. Crickets, wasps, beetles and even mammal hair were among the specimens they discovered. Sam Heads, a paleontologist at the Illinois Natural History Survey which is part of the Prairie Research Institute at the university, stops by to discuss the research, the discovered specimens, and the type of environment they once thrived in, and what clues the discovery tells us about evolution.
