US Attorney General, FBI: No Open CPD Investigation

On Thursday, Sept. 4, U.S. Attorney General Zachary T. Fardon and FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Robert J. Holley said in a joint statement there is not an open investigation of the Chicago Police Department. The statement was issued in response to media inquiries about a federal investigation of the CPD.

“As Acting Attorney General Molly Moran stated today, there is no open pattern and practice civil rights investigation of the Chicago Police Department. The Chicago Police Department is our front-line partner, along with federal law enforcement agencies, in our determined efforts to reduce violent crime in Chicago. At the same time, the Department of Justice remains equally vigilant to protect the civil rights of all individuals without fear or favor.”
