Chicago Tonight: The Week in Review: 10/3


On this edition of Chicago Tonight: The Week in Review with Joel Weisman; there are fewer Chicago murders so far in 2014 than any year since 1965. President Obama comes to town, adding to the flow of national money pouring into Illinois races. A new poll in the governor’s race shows Gov. Pat Quinn nursing a narrow lead.  Sen. Dick Durbin and challenger Jim Oberweis trade heated charges in a face-to- face Tribune meeting. Double dipping charges are leveled in the comptroller race between Judy Baar Topinka and Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon. Fire at an air traffic control center snarls traffic nationwide. A revamp of the CTA in the Loop promises faster and more reliable rides. Jewel Osco announces a credit card breach. Illinois committed to additional Obamacare signups. In sports, baseball playoffs begin as Chicago teams announce changes for next year. Jay Cutler crumbles, and the Bears head for North Carolina. As the Blackhawks conclude the exhibition season, cuts are made to the roster. And the Bulls open training camp.
