Election Winners

Republican Bruce Rauner will be the state’s next governor as Pat Quinn officially conceded at 3:30 pm Wednesday. Rauner had 51 percent of the vote with 99 percent of precincts reporting while Quinn received 46 percent and Libertarian candidate Chad Grimm received 3 percent of the vote.

State Sen. Jim Oberweis conceded in the race for U.S. Senate at approximately 8:40 pm Tuesday. Sen. Dick Durbin is elected for a fourth term and received 53 percent of the vote to Oberweis's 43 percent with 99 percent of precincts reporting by 12:07 pm Wednesday, according to the Associated Press. Libertarian candidate Sharon Hansen had 4 percent of the vote.

U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider conceded in the race for the 10th Congressional District to Republican challenger Bob Dold. Schneider gave his concession speech at approximately 9:35 pm Tuesday. Dold had 52 percent of the vote with 100 percent of precincts reporting in by 9:37 am Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.

Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka has been re-elected, beating Democratic challenger Sheila Simon, who is the current lieutenant governor. Simon conceded the race at approximately 10:40 pm Tuesday. The incumbent received 50 percent of the vote to Simon's 45 percent with 99 percent of precincts reporting by 3:07 pm, according to the Associated Press. Libertarian candidate Julie Fox had 5 percent of the vote.

Incumbent U.S. Rep. Bill Foster wins his bid for re-election in the 11th Congressional District. Foster faced Republican challenger state Rep. Darlene Senger. Foster had 53 percent of the vote with 100 percent of precincts reporting in by 10:37 am Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.

 

 

The race for Illinois Treasurer has yet to be determined. Both Republican candidate Tom Cross and Democratic candidate Michael Frerichs had 48 percent of the vote with 99 percent of precincts reporting by 3:07 pm Wednesday, according to the Associated Press. Libertarian candidate Matthew Skopek had 4 percent of the vote.
