Former State Rep. Pleads Guilty to Child Porn

Former Illinois State Rep. Keith Farnham pleaded guilty to a federal charge of transporting child pornography today.

Farnham, 67, resigned his seat in the Illinois General Assembly in March, less than a week after federal agents seized computers from his home and office, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

In his plea, Farnham admitted that on Nov. 25, 2013, he sent an email from a computer in his Elgin office with the message: “do you trade.  This is what I lik.” Farnham attached child pornography files to the email and had images and videos depicting child porn on his computers.

Farnham faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and a maximum of 20 years in prison. He will be sentenced on March 19, 2015. Read the plea agreement here.
