In Unique Voices, giant LED screens will show candid moments of Joffrey dancers talking about who they are and what they do. These documentary bits will be woven into an actual dance performance. It's the U.S. debut by acclaimed Swedish choreographer Alexander Ekman—a revealing multimedia work about dance and dancers. The production runs from Feb. 11 to 22. This weekend, there are performances at 7:30 pm on Friday, and at 2:00 and 7:30 pm on Saturday. Tickets start at $32. You don’t need to pay exorbitant prices this Valentine’s Day to see flowers. More than 10,000 orchids will be on display—from trees draped in orange and yellow Dendrobium and hanging hedges of pink and purple Beallara, to vibrant Vanda in orange, yellow, red, and blue—at the Chicago Botanic Garden Orchid Show. Beginning Saturday, the Orchid Show is open daily until March 15. Tickets cost $8 for adult members, $10 for non-members.

In time for Valentine's Day, The Newberry Library in Chicago has searched through its extensive archives for artifacts of love. Taking suggestions from its staff across many areas of expertise, the library has created an exhibition of works on paper that express love in all its forms over the last eight centuries. Nearly 1,000 different vehicles, throughout more than 1 million square feet, will be on display at the nation’s largest and oldest metropolitan dealer organization. The Chicago Automobile Trade Association has been producing the Chicago Auto Show since 1935 and returns to Chicago on Saturday. The show runs from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm through Saturday, Feb. 21.  Aside from experimental and concept cars on display, attendees will be able to view antique and collector cars. Tickets cost $12 for adults; $6 for seniors and children.

They are two of the best contemporary interpreters of Jazz Standards and the Great American Songbook. John Pizzarelli and Jane Monheit are bringing their musical stylings to Skokie on Friday at 8:00 pm for a pre-Valentine’s Day treat. Ticket costs range from $35 to $65.
