Analyzing the Mayoral Candidates Financial Plans

With Mayor Rahm Emanuel and challenger Jesús "Chuy" García offering competing views on how to fix the city's finances, our panel looks at the proposals put forward to fix the city's looming crises. Joining us are Michael Belsky, a lecturer at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago who previously worked for 15 years at Fitch Ratings focusing on public finance; Jonathan Jackson, the national spokesperson for Rainbow PUSH Coalition who’s a business professor at Chicago State University and a supporter of the García campaign; and City Treasurer Kurt Summers, who is overseeing the city’s $7 billion investment portfolio and is a supporter of Emanuel’s re-election campaign.

Both Emanuel and García released their plans for the city’s finances last week.
