There was a lot going on at MTV’s Video Music Awards. If you weren’t overly distracted by Kanye West’s bid for president in 2020 or the strategically placed dots on Miley Cyrus’ see through Mamadoux dress, you might have caught the sneak peak of Teachers, TV Land’s upcoming comedy following six twenty-something female educators fed up with America’s school system. Those watching Sunday's awards got an exclusive Teachers sneak preview post-VMAs.

Set to premiere in January, the single-camera series stars Chicago-based improv group the Katydids – whose names are all a variation of Katie – who also write and co-executive produce the show. Alison Brie, of NBC’s Community, is the show's executive producer.

Teachers was originally scheduled to premiere in June but, according to TV Land’s publicist, was pushed back to January to coincide with season two of Younger, the network’s series about grasping at lost youth starring Hilary Duff and Sutton Foster.

While TV Land has yet to release the VMA Teachers preview online, here’s a look at the show’s trailer, which features such memorable lines as, “I’m not going to be reading you any fairytales because they’re lies,” and “The truth is kids, sometimes Prince Charming wants to date other people.”
