Pulitzer Prize-winning architecture critic Blair Kamin of the Chicago Tribune walks us through the new designs for the Lucas Museum. Learn about the details of Chinese architect Ma Yansong's revised plan for the potential lakefront museum – and what is missing.

"This is kind of the Weight Watchers version of Jabba the Hutt," said Kamin. "It's been slimmed down, the square footage has been reduced by about 25 percent, the footprint of the building has also been reduced – by about 40 percent – so it's smaller. For starters."

Give "Star Wars" mastermind George Lucas his due: The new, slimmed-down design of his once-bloated lakefront museum is better than the first try. Think of it as the Weight Watchers version of Jabba the Hutt, the fat, toadlike crime boss in the "Star Wars" saga.

But that hardly means the improved plan, unveiled Thursday and expected to be submitted to city officials next week, should get the green light to be built on Chicago's sacrosanct shoreline.
