FRIDAY

Chicago International Children's Film Festival (Friday through Nov. 1)
Various venues
This is the 32nd year for the film fest, which features over 245 films from more than 42 countries including the U.S., France, the Netherlands, Japan, Germany, Mexico, and others. In addition to the films, there will also be post screening Q&As with filmmakers, interactive workshops with special guests, peer-to-peer dialogues, filmmaker-led seminars, and the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival’s Children's and Youth Juries. Various times. $10; $6 for kids ages 18 and younger.

Main Street Cemetery Tour
831 Maple Ave., Downers Grove
Take a nigthttime flashlight tour through the Main Street cemetery and learn little known facts about its occupants. 7 p.m. $8-$12.

Chicago International Map Fair (Friday-Sunday)
Loyola Museum of Art, 820 N. Michigan Ave.
The fair will consist of approximately 25 antique map, globe, and book dealers from across the U.S. and Europe. The fair will also feature a four-part educational series with lectures by various antiquarian scholars from Chicago and around the world. 5-7:30 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. $5 for a weekend pass. 

Filmless Festival (Friday-Sunday)
Chicago's High School for the Arts, 3200 S. Calumet St. 
A festival celebrating the best audio stories produced worldwide for radio and Internet. Various times. $12 per event; $100 three-day pass.


SATURDAY

Mac & Cheese Fest
UIC Forum, 725 W. Roosevelt Rd.
Ready your Lactaid Chicago – it's a whole festival devoted to that holy of holies, macaroni and cheese. With goodies from restaurants such as Carnivale, Famous Dave's, Luella's Southern Kitchen, Lady Gregory's, The Kerryman and others. General admission includes all the mac and cheese you can stomach plus five drink tickets. Do it. Lunch: 12:30-3 p.m.; dinner: 6:30-9:30 p.m. $60-$100.

Spooky Zoo Spectacular
Lincoln Park Zoo, 2001 N. Clark St.
Free Halloween event for the kiddos includes crafts, trick-or-treating and entertainment around the zoo. 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Free. 

First Annual Chicago Halloween Fest
Columbus from Balbo to Monroe streets
This first ever Halloween parade and fest comes to you from the Chicago Cultural Mile Association and promises performances, pop-up installations, free performances and more. 2-8 p.m. Free. 

'Hi-Lo' Gallery Reception, Beauty & Brawn Art Gallery 
3501 W. Fullerton Ave.
Screen prints and photography from Chicago-based artists Tara Zanzig and Natasha Kohli. The display continues through Nov. 21. 6-9 p.m. Free. 

Chicago Humanities Festival (Satruday-Nov. 8)
Various locations in Chicago, Evanston

SUNDAY

Andersonville Dessert Crawl
Various Andersonville locations
Nosh your way through the North Side neighborhood's dessert scene, which means a whole afternoon of gorging on things like pumpkin cheesecake, wild cherry mousse and coconut custard. Umm, okay. One $25 ticket gets you access to 11 different resturants handing out goodies. 2-5 p.m. $25-$30.

Multiple DJs spin the best in Afro Beat, pop and house music. 3-9 p.m. $10-$15.

'Trash Dance' Screening

Choreographer Allison Orr shadows city garbage truck workers through their daily routines, ultimately convincing them that their movements and organization can be seen as a form of dance. Part of the In/Motion Chicago Dance Film Festival. 1 p.m. Free. 

Randolph Street Market Festival (Saturday-Sunday)

Browse vntage clothes and jewelry, furniture, a food market and more. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both days. $8-$10.
