A double whammy for those who dig boats: the Chicago Boat and RV show and Strictly Sail show combine forces at McCormick Place. Chicago's biggest marine and outdoor sales event features sailboats and sailing gear, camping and outdoor equipment, the latest in RVs, campers and trailers and marine engines and electronics. Ahoy. Hands On Cupcake Decorating Class
Read It & Eat, 2142 N. Halsted St. 
Drink champagne while learning how to decorate cupcakes from pro Chicago pastry chef Kelly Dull, who's worked at Chicago's Magnolia Bakery as well as North Bakery in Providence, Rhode Island. The class will focus on piping techniques and creating simple buttercream flowers to adorn your cupcakes. 6-8 p.m. $45.

Animals Out of Paper (Through Feb. 27)

Shattered Globe Theatre presents this show from playwright Rajiv Joseph about a calculus teacher who pressures a reclusive origami artist into becoming a mentor to a troubled teen prodigy. Directed by Devon de May with collaboration from award-winning Chicago-based origami artist Christine Edison. Previews start Thursday. Logan Square Winter Gala
Beauty & Brawn Art Gallery and Think Space, 3501 W. Fullerton Ave. 
Even hipsters need a gala day every once in a while. Proceeds from the third annual Logan Square Winter Gala benefit No Kid Hungry, a campaign which provides meals to children both locally and nationally. Guests can enjoy snacks from local restaurants, drinks and a raffle and silent auction. Suggested attire is fancy – interpret as you will. 7-10 p.m. $20 tickets include two drink tickets and one raffle ticket.

This jazz-gospel version of Handel's Messiah, a tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., now in its 11th year, features vocal talents of over 200 performers, including tenor Rodrick Dixon and soprano Alfreda Burke. 7:30 p.m. Saturday; 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets start at $29. Additional special young professionals reception on Saturday. 6 p.m. reception, 7:30 p.m. performance. $45 ticket includes reception, light appetizers and drink tickets. 

Led Zeppelin 2 (Friday-Saturday)

This Chicago-based cover band dresses the part and rocks the tunes. The band will play a different set each night. Friday will be the Earls Court 1975 UK Tour with How the Midwest was won: 1972 on Saturday. Say yes to it.    

Founders Week Activities (Thursday-Saturday)
Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, 2430 N. Cannon Drive
In honor of its 160th anniversary next year, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum will host a week of festivities, including a look at some of its rarely seen specimens in addition to a special pop-up exhibit focused on the museum’s history. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday; 10 a.m.-5p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Free with cost of museum admission: $9; $7 for students and seniors; $6 for children under age 3.

Bob Saget at Thalia Hall

All the greatness that is Bob Saget will perform in Pilsen on Sunday. Best known as Danny Tanner on "Full House" and host of "America's Funniest Home Videos," Saget returns with more stand-up comedy. Saget's also had a slew of recent success: he just finished a run in Broadway's Tony-nominated "Hand to God" and his first book, "Dirty Daddy: the Chronicles of a Family Man Turned Filthy Comedian" has been a New York Times best seller. 8 p.m., 7 p.m. doors. $39-$85.

Hear a range of works, including Schnittke’s intricate String Quartet No. 3, Shostakovich’s brooding Quartet No. 13 in B-flat minor, and the romantic Mendelssohn Quartet in E minor. 2 p.m. lecture with Pacifica Quartet. 3 p.m. concert. $30. $5 for students.

Wicker Park Ice Rink Opens
Wicker Park Field House, 1425 N. Damen Ave.    
After more than a month of setbacks, the Wicker Ice outdoor rink is set to open. Sunday's grand opening party includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon by Ald. Proco “Joe” Moreno (1st Ward), Chicago Park District staff and members of the Wicker Ice Committee, followed by a free open skate until 8 p.m. Free.
