Trump Shakes Up Staff as Campaign Tries to Broaden Base

With just 82 days until Election Day, Donald Trump is once again shaking up his top campaign staff, which has seen three campaign managers in just as many months. But some conservatives are questioning whether the move will help him broaden his base of support—a key hurdle to overcome in crucial swing states like Florida and Ohio.

The Trump campaign’s reorganization will bring in Steve Bannon, the head of the conservative news outlet Breitbart News LLC, as chief executive. Trump pollster Kellyanne Conway will be promoted to campaign manager. Both moves appear to diminish the role of campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who has faced increased scrutiny over his consulting ties in Ukraine. The New York Times earlier this week reported that Manafort was slated to receive nearly $13 million from a pro-Russian political party.
