A man was found after being beaten and robbed at a CTA Red Line stop in August, but he only recently regained his ability to communicate and tell police what happened to him.
The Chicago Police Department is asking for community assistance in finding a male suspect, who is believed to have attacked the 70-year-old victim in the early morning hours of Aug. 7.
The victim was unresponsive and unable to speak when he was found at the Sheridan Red Line station at around 2:30 a.m. that morning. He was transported to a local hospital, but police say that because he couldn’t communicate, they were unable to determine the cause of his injuries.

It wasn’t until last week that the victim was able to convey that he had been beaten and robbed. CPD detectives then went back and located video from a CTA train which showed a male offender “batter and rob the victim of his property on the Red Line at what is believed to be the Granville stop,” according to a department statement.
The suspect is wanted for aggravated battery and robbery. He is described as a black male between the ages of 19 and 25 who was wearing a green Nike T-shirt, blue jeans and gray running shoes at the time of the attack. Authorities believe he is between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-9 and likely weighs between 130 and 160 pounds.
