It’s no secret that shrinking newsroom budgets and an ever-evolving media landscape have challenged the paradigms of print journalism. The Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times are doing their best to adapt, and going through big changes.
Tribune employees are pushing to unionize. And last week, the Sun-Times ran a blank front page to introduce its new digital subscription plan.
How will these print rivals weather a turbulent news industry, and will they work together or fight it out?
Furthermore, what are the roles of nonprofit media groups, like the Illinois Policy Institute and the newly launched One Illinois media group, within the journalism landscape?
