Mark Zuckerberg Grant to Help CPS Spread ‘Personalized Learning’
More than 370,000 students attend Chicago Public Schools – and the school district says the demand from teachers and principals to “personalize” learning for those students has increased.
Experts say this new learning model recognizes that the one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t help learning or prepare students for the careers of the future.
On Tuesday, CPS announced it’s receiving a $14 million grant to expand personalized learning, in partnership with a Chicago-based nonprofit already working in the classroom. That money comes from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, the nonprofit started by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, pediatrician Priscilla Chan.
